Principal Partners for Body Worlds Vital Exhibition

BW VITAL WBP

We are delighted to announce that Partners Life is the Principal Partner of Body Worlds Vital – the New Zealand debut of the internationally acclaimed educational exhibit featuring real human bodies. Body Worlds Vital is coming to Auckland on the 23rd of April, and will be running in the Hilton Exhibition Centre in Auckland until the 13th of July.

The travelling global exhibition Body Worlds Vital is a sight to behold, and in April this year, Kiwis will be given an eye-opening look at human anatomy, to see up close how our lifestyles truly affect our bodies. One hundred and fifty donated human specimens have gone through a meticulous 12-month process of ‘plastination’, and the resultant specimens demonstrate how life decisions impact anatomical health.

Partners Life has chosen to sponsor the acclaimed exhibition because it showcases the magnificence and fragility of the human body, company founder and MD Naomi Ballantyne said. “As a risk insurance company we cover people for every kind of health event that interrupts their lifestyle – whether accident, injury or illness and whether the interruption is temporary or permanent, in that they do not resume life as they lived it before.

“We were quite stunned to learn how much this exhibition affects and influences those who experience it. The display explores how everything a person does – how they eat, whether they exercise, if they smoke or drink – affects their body. Two-thirds of visitors to the exhibition overseas have walked away and made positive changes to their health and wellbeing, and our hope is that we will see similar statistics in New Zealand.”

Ms Ballantyne says as a leading provider of lifestyle interruption insurances, Partners Life steps up when something has gone wrong with a body, to put it simply. “When they claim on a policy, people are always extremely grateful for the emergency funds our products provide. People who don’t have insurance, or don’t have enough or don’t have the right type, could be left in a desperate situation, with no or not enough emergency funds to claim against."

“In cases of illness that stop you working for a time, or a trauma or disability that puts you out of work permanently, ACC will often not be applicable, and even if it is, may not meet an individual’s full costs of living, let alone their family’s.

“We sponsored this exhibition as a way of putting health and wellbeing front-of-mind for people, and to remind everyone that life interruption is something that can be planned for. You may not be able to prevent the interruption, but you can plan to ride it out financially so money can be taken off the worry list.”

Ms Ballantyne says getting independent, expert advice is critical when buying lifestyle interruption products, because the products provide significant funds for a multitude of circumstances and can therefore be complex. With its market-leading suite of products, Partners Life is taking the lead in educating and protecting consumers.

Fathers' Breakfasts are held annually in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Six top speakers talk from their heart and share personal stories from their journey as a father – all to provide inspiration to help you with your role as a dad. Plus enjoy a fully cooked breakfast at the same time!

In previous years, speakers such as Sir Stephen Tindall, Sir Ralph Norris, Sir Ray Avery, Sean Fitzpatrick, Wayne 'Buck' Shelford, Graham Henry, Robbie Deans, Nick Farr-Jones, Neil Finn and John Campbell have spoken at Fathers' Breakfasts. All of them are quick to admit their failings, but they are also keen to pass on what they've found that works.

Fathers can make a huge, positive difference. Fathers want to be active and involved in their kids' lives – this event will give you some simple tips and inspiration to take home and apply. The practical nature of the speakers' advice, combined with the atmosphere generated by hundreds of fathers in a room, makes it a powerful event. If you wish to book your space whilst seats last then please click below.

The Partners Life High Five-0 Challenge 2015

High Five 0 Banner
High Five O Challenge

The results are in: The High Five-O Challenge has been completed and smashed!

Putting our best feet forward & supporting NZ Mental Health Foundation

The High Five-O Challenge was one man's ambition to test his own boundaries to conquer 50 marathons and 50 peaks in 50 days, back to back with no rest days. In its scale and ambition the Partners Life High Five-0 Challenge was both enormous and unprecedented – nothing quite like it has ever been attempted anywhere in the world.

It has been a true odyssey, played out over the length and breadth of one of the most beautiful countries on the planet. It has been a celebration of many things, not least New Zealand's wild places, the pastimes of peak bagging & trail running, camaraderie between adventurous people and the generosity of the human spirit. But more than anything this Challenge exists to bring the issues surrounding mental health out of the shadows and into the limelight. Their most important goal of all was to raise at least $250,000 for the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.

The journey had a number of ups-and-downs however with the strong support network that Mal was surrounded by every day made getting through the difficult times much easier and celebrating the good times even sweeter. Having such tremendous support behind you is what the Mental Health Foundation is all about, supporting people during difficult periods in life.

Beyond the fundraising, Mal wanted to encourage others to embrace the Five Ways to Wellbeing, set goals, enjoy the outdoors and talk about mental health.

Winning Ways of Wellbeing

"Not only did we get those messages out there, but I know that without a shadow of a doubt that we effected lives and saved lives," Mal says.

Ehara taku toa, he takitahi, he toa takitini.

My success should not be bestowed onto me alone, as it was not individual success but success of a collective.

Following the epic success of the Partner's Life High Five-0 Challenge for Mental Health, Mal proudly handed over a cheque worth $507,416 to MHF Board Chair Jeremy Gardiner and Chief Executive Judi Clements at a special event in May 2015.

Mal isn't afraid to push both mind and body in order to raise awareness on a subject very close to his heart. This drive and determination is why our values come together so well, helping support the Mental Health Foundation gives New Zealanders a chance to live 'Life Better Together'.
